Saber and Scroll

From their earliest beginnings, railroads have played an extremely significant role in shaping America; its society, its culture, and its destiny. Taking their lead from the first railroads of Britain, which arrived with the first locomotive built in 1803 in England, American entrepreneurs soon channeled the vast majority of their efforts into promoting the development of railways in the United States. With its truly immense territory, growing population, and trailblazing spirit, America soon embraced railroads as an avenue to fulfillment of Manifest Destiny – the idea that American settlers were pre-destined to expand across the North American continent, regardless of what obstacles they may encounter.
